Main Street is
a vital program that tackles the complex issue of downtown
and neighborhood revitalization while
highlighting the community's history and other resources.

| Mannington Main Street
attended the 2012 West Virginia Main Street Awards and Reception held
at the Cultural Center at the Capitol Grounds in Charleston
and received honors from Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and the
West Virginia Development Office. |
The Main Street

A First place Innovation award of $15,000 in the
small Main Street community category, was given to the
organization for the "Local-Motive" Historic Train Depot
business incubator plan. Phase one of the project will
include a feasibility study and training for
entrepreneurs interested in starting small businesses
within the area. The organization was also awarded
$1,090 for organizational training. |

Mannington Main Street began a special youth
program designed for local youth to promote
volunteerism, community pride, and project implementation steps.
The 6 week program funding, $2,500.00, was awarded to Main Street
in 2011 to create an innovative program within its community through the West Virginia Development
Office.
The participants were given cameras to carry out
their project ideas and create video presentations, as well as
develop visual projects for a panel of judges. |
Congratulations team Green Town!!!
The winners of the 2012 I Love My Town Youth Program were
awarded $500.00 to complete the area on the corner of Market
Street and Water Street. Team "Green Town" was awarded
the funding which included this mural to brighten the area. |

Both current Board Members and Board Members Elect worked together
to compile policies and procedures for Mannington Main Street. Main
Street was very fortunate to have the expertise of Main Street
Member Robin Smith, who has a Master's Degree in Non-Profit
Management. Robin was very instrumental in helping to revise
